During February 1970 two Navy recruiters were forcibly removed from the Portland State University student building, Smith Memorial Center, by four PSU students: Maureen Grey, Ilenya Fenjo, John Wolfe, and Lynn B. Meyer. Later, a college French professor, Dr. Frank Stearns Giese, was charged in the dynamite bombings of Navy and Army recruiting centers. He was a captain in Naval Intelligence during World War Two.
